Your account moves to Read-Only Mode when your free trial ends without a subscription, when a monthly payment is not made by the end of the 72-hour grace period, or when a subscription period ends without renewal — including when you have cancelled auto-renewal. Your account is not locked or deleted, and it stays open.
What you can still do in Read-Only Mode
- Sign in with the same email address.
- View your past account activity — chats, call logs, requests, expenses, check-ins and session records — exactly as it was.
- Export your records at no charge, including Certified Electronic Business Records exports (available to U.S. users, generated on the AppClose website).
- Download the call recordings and transcripts that are still within their retention period (Profile → Call Recordings), at no charge.
This works the same way in every country where AppClose is available. Certified Electronic Business Records exports are currently a U.S.-only feature; outside the U.S., your standard record exports work the same in Read-Only Mode and are also free.
What Read-Only Mode does not include
Using AppClose to communicate with other users — sending messages, making calls, or creating new requests, expenses or events. Anyone you are connected with will see that you are not receiving communications through the platform.
What happens to your records
Your chats, call logs, requests, expenses, check-ins and session records are not deleted in Read-Only Mode. Call recordings and transcripts follow their own schedule, whether your account is active or in Read-Only Mode: each recording, and any transcript of it, is deleted on the last day of the calendar month two years after the month in which the call was made (for example, a call recorded in March 2027 is deleted on March 31, 2029). We notify you at least 30 days before a recording or transcript is deleted. Download anything you want to keep before then.
Read-Only Mode is different from closing your account. A closed account cannot be signed in to and cannot be reopened — see How do I close my AppClose account? before you decide to close.
Getting back to full access
Read-Only Mode continues until your account is reactivated by a paid subscription or an approved fee waiver, or until the account is closed or terminated. When you reactivate, full functionality returns and your complete history is where you left it. A new subscription is at the rates then applicable to new users, for the plan you choose.
Need help with cost? Fee waivers are available for qualifying families experiencing financial hardship and for survivors of domestic violence and their co-parent. Discounts are available for active-duty service members and veterans. Accounts with fees waived have access to the full platform, with every feature. Apply for a fee waiver or military discount.
For the full details, see Sections 2 and 3 of the AppClose Terms of Service.
